Description
In a nutshell:
Zesty Loire Sauvignon, all bright citrus and a touch of blossom - seriously easy drinking.
The lowdown:
This Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc is all about zesty citrus and delicate hints of white flowers. The grapes come from vineyards where the soil has a bit of flint and limestone, giving the wine a lively zing. Made purely from Sauvignon Blanc, with time spent on lees for complexity, results in a fresh, well-rounded character. Expect fresh pear and red apple flavours after that initial citrus blast. There's a touch of minerality too, which keeps things crisp and refreshing right to the end.
The Producer:
Established in 1973, Domaine Chainier is a significant player in the Loire Valley. Balancing their role as a négociant with the stewardship of 250 hectares in the heart of Touraine, they cultivate classic Loire varieties. This includes sourcing grapes from the newly formed Touraine-Chenonceaux appellation. Theyre a domaine that manages to strike a good balance between tradition and a forward-thinking approach.
When to drink:
A lovely crisp Sauvignon, this is a cracker with seafood, a fresh salad, or a generous wedge of goat's cheese.
