Wine of the Month, September 2026

Amoterra Montepulciano d'Abruzzo - £13.50
It could be Italian for 'All-Rounder'
Looking for an Italian red confident that'll go down well in pretty much any setting? Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is that wine.
And given that September's the month that sees summer transition to autumn, something that’s adaptable has to be the right call.
Montepulciano's the grape, Abruzzo, the mountainous region half way down Italy that tumbles into the Adriatic, is where it comes from. It might not be as prestigious as the likes of Chianti or Barolo, but for sheer likeability it takes some beating. The one we've chosen, Amoterra Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, ticks all those boxes in that it's suitable for pretty much any occasion, and it's organic as well. Juicy and bright and full of ripe berry fruit with a touch of spice wrapped in soft silky tannins, it's neither a big bruiser nor feather light. It hits a sweet spot that makes it an easy pick at any time.
At a mere £13.50 it’s a bit of a steal and as September’s Wine of the Month you’ll get a 100 bonus loyalty points for each bottle purchased
Now’s got to be a good time to get one or two in your wine rack.
