Dan's Albariño Adventure
I think it’s fair to say Albariño’s having a bit of a moment - and it’s not hard to see why. Those lovely ripe flavours and aromatic character make it such a joy. It’s one of the ultimate seafood whites, but unlike Muscadet or Picpoul, it’s not too austere or sharp. The flavours are more generous, but you still get that citrusy freshness and saline minerality running through it - perfect with all the amazing seafood that comes out of the waters around Galicia. You’ve only got to try my pick for this month to see exactly what I mean.
Orballo Albarino, Rias Baixas
Single Price: £18.90
Mixed 6 Price: £16.90
Fraser's Californian Chardonnay Classic
Chardonnay comes in all shapes and sizes, and, for me, this one sums up the best of California—ripe, generous, and packed with lush peachy, tropical fruit. There’s some oak, but only a little, giving a bit of texture and depth without overshadowing the fresh, vibrant flavours. That balance is exactly why I like it. You get all the sunshine-filled richness you’d expect, but with a touch of restraint that keeps it effortlessly drinkable. So it’s a bit rich and sophisticated with a good dose of subtlety and restraint— I wish that was me.
De Loach Heritage Reserve Chardonnay
Single Price: £21.50
Mixed 6 Price: £19.50
Debbie's Languedoc GSM Steal
GSM? One of my favourites. And that’s exactly what this is—a blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre so well-loved it’s earned its own acronym. But L’Arbre d’Or isn’t from the Rhône, where you might expect. Instead, it comes from a cooler pocket of the Languedoc, which gives it a bit more freshness and structure. You still get all the juicy openness and touch of spice you’d want from a Côtes-du-Rhône red, but with an extra layer of refinement. And at this price, it’s a bit of a steal—plenty of style without stretching the budget.
L'Arbre d'Or, Domaine Les Caizergues
Single Price: £18.90
Mixed 6 Price: £16.90
Grace's Barossa Shiraz Powerhouse
Big, bold, warm, and powerful—that’s what Aussie Shiraz is all about, and this one absolutely delivers. Barossa’s known for turning out some of the richest, smoothest reds, and this is right up there. Loads of ripe dark fruit, a bit of spice, and a seriously silky finish. And it’s a proper year-round red—great with a roast in winter, spot-on for the barbecue in summer. When someone asks me for a classic Aussie Shiraz, this is the one I grab every time. It’s got everything you want and then some.
Dandelion Vineyards Lionheart of the Barossa Shiraz
Single Price: £17.50
Mixed 6 Price: £15.50
Phil's Zibibbo Discovery
Digging out lesser-known grapes is a bit of a hobby of mine, and Zibibbo ticks that box nicely. It’s right up there with Gewürztraminer for floral, aromatic intensity, but don’t be fooled—it’s dry, as the ‘Secco’ on the label helpfully points out. The flavour? ‘Grapey’—one of the only varieties that genuinely tastes like grapes (not a lot of people know that – apologies to Michael Caine). If you’re after something a bit different, or you’ve got a fragrant, spicy dish on the table, this is just the thing.
Mandrarossa Zibibbo Secco
