Sicilian Organic White - Limited Parcel

Medium

Sicily produces a wealth of great wines from native varieties in a range of styles and has done for millennia, and they are often rather good value as well! Here we offer a limited parcel, just 30 bottles, of this fresh and aromatic organic white made with one of the oldest varieties grown around the Mediterranean from one of the oldest wine producing regions.

Azienda Agricola Rallo’s al Qasar white is made with the Zibibbo grape, cultivated on the island for centuries and known elsewhere as Muscat. Muscat is an ancient and highly versatile grape and while it can produce fabulous sweet wines, as Zibibbo in Sicily it makes fantastic crisp, zippy and aromatic dry white wines.

Grown at 250m in altitude up in the hills near the old town of Alcamo in western Sicily in a small patch of loamy vineyards known as Patti Piccolo, Rallo farm the vines organically and then pick by hand. In the winery the grapes undergo a soft pressing before fermentation, and then maturing in stainless steel for six months, all to preserve the freshness and delicate aromatics that are such a key component of Muscat.

This really is a perfect light summer white and is one of those wines that will instantly transport you straight to the Med! It works well as an aperitif, with salads, particularly well with raw or smoked fish, and surprisingly with blue cheeses as well.
