The Golden Hour: Rich & Textured Whites for Autumn

Medium

Just because the leaves are turning doesn't mean you have to abandon white wine.

In fact, as the days shorten and the light softens, we've found ourselves reaching for a different kind of white—the kind that offers body, texture, and a golden hue to match the season. Our "In The Spotlight" selection this month is all about these richer, more complex whites.

These are not the crisp, zesty bottles of summer. They are the wines that feel like a warm embrace, with a weight and character that stands up beautifully to the heartier, more comforting dishes of autumn. Forget the simple, refreshing sippers; these are sophisticated, layered whites that are ready to take centre stage.

Here's what’s In The Spotlight this month:

De Loach Heritage Reserve Chardonnay: A classic Californian Chardonnay that delivers on richness. Expect creamy texture and generous notes of baked apple, butter, and vanilla from its time in oak.

Bourgogne Chardonnay 'Couvent des Jacobins', Louis Jadot: From Burgundy, this wine offers a more elegant and restrained take on Chardonnay. It's refined and complex, with subtle nutty notes and a lovely minerality that speaks of its Old World origins.

La Fleur Solitaire Côtes du Rhône Blanc, Boutinot: This Rhône blend of white grapes offers a beautiful, full-bodied character. It’s rich with notes of stone fruit and a smooth, rounded finish that makes it a perfect partner for seasonal food.

Apply Within Chenin Blanc: Hailing from South Africa, this Chenin Blanc is far from your average. It has a compelling depth and texture, with a flavour profile of ripe pear and a touch of honeyed complexity.

Voché Rioja Blanco, Fermentado en Barrica NV: A unique and intriguing choice. This white Rioja is fermented in barrel, giving it a savoury, nutty character and a rich, creamy mouthfeel. It’s a fantastic wine to explore.

Lapilli Greco di Tufo: This Italian gem is a brilliant alternative to Pinot Grigio. Naturally full-bodied, it offers notes of ripe peach and apricot with a subtle almond finish and a crisp, mineral backbone.

These six whites are a testament to the fact that white wine season is year-round. Discover them for yourself with a 10% discount throughout October.
