The award-winning Cru Bourgeois is a fruit-forward wine with black fruit character and a hint of spice from oak ageing. It has excellent ageing potential, so you can enjoy it now or cellar it for a few years.

The award-winning Cru Bourgeois, Chateau Labadie is on the outskirts of the village of Begadan just north of St-Etephe. The village is located 70km from Bordeaux on the plot where an old abbey used to sit. Yves Bibey, who has been the operator since 1970, has now been joined by his son to help run the Chateau. The conjunction of the terroir with its rich personalities, results in a very interesting wine. Whilst the vineyard is not verified organic, they practice sustainable viticulture with minimal intervention in the winery.

The wine is made from 53% Merlot, 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 3% Cabernet Franc. It is fermented in stainless steel or cement and aged in oak barrels for 12-15 months. This gives the wine a rich, complex flavour profile with a silky-smooth texture.

The palate is dominated by subtle blackcurrant and blackberry fruit flavours with a touch of toast and spice from the oak. It is incredibly ripe and generous, with a gorgeous satin-like texture and an abundance of blackberry sorbet fruit. The attack is well-rounded with nice tannins that give volume and a fruity mark to the wine.
