Sip the Season's Splendour: Château Potensac's Autumn Elegance

As the year draws to a close, we're excited to offer a limited parcel of a superb Bordeaux that's perfect for embracing the autumn season.

Château Potensac, a prominent Cru Bourgeois estate nestled in the northern Médoc, boasts a rich history dating back to the mid-1800s. Today, it's under the ownership of Jean-Hubert Delon, who inherited the estate from his grandmother and also oversees other esteemed châteaux like Leoville Las Cases in St Julien and Nenin in Pomerol. With 50 hectares of vineyards set on alluvial gravel and red clay soils, Potensac produces wines from 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, and 15% Cabernet Franc vines averaging around 35 years old. The grapes are hand-harvested and meticulously vinified in a blend of temperature-controlled concrete and stainless-steel tanks before maturing in small oak barrels (20% new) for 14-16 months.

For devoted claret enthusiasts, the Chapelle de Potensac, Médoc 2017 is akin to slipping into comfortable slippers: its silky-smooth texture showcases ripe black fruit, subtle hints of tobacco, leather from fine-grained tannins, and understated herbal notes culminating in a crisp finish. This wine, being the second label of Château Potensac, places Merlot in the spotlight (72%), ably supported by Cabernet Sauvignon (21%) and a touch of Cabernet Franc (7%). With so much character at a modest price, it's a steal. And when it comes to food pairings, it naturally complements roast lamb exquisitely. But act quickly, as we have only a limited number of bottles available at the incredible price of £18.90. Such an opportunity for a well-aged Cru Bourgeois won't last long, so secure your bottles before they vanish from our shelves.
