Wine of the Month, November 2024

Chateau Oumsiyat, Mount Lebanon, Merlot 2020

A Taste of Lebanon’s Winemaking Heritage

£16.90 + 100 Wine of the Month bonus loyalty points

Lebanon, part of ancient Mesopotamia, is one of the world’s original wine regions. Thanks to its deep-rooted history and a strong French influence throughout the 20th century, Lebanon has become the top wine producer in the Middle East.

Sure, Chateau Musar might be the big name in Lebanese wine, but there’s plenty more to discover beyond that. Chateau Oumsiyat is one such hidden gem. They kicked off shortly after the Second World War, right in the heart of the Bekaa Valley - the country’s winemaking hub - and they’ve been crafting excellent wines ever since, with a clear nod to their French heritage.

Our Wine of the Month for November 2024 is their Merlot. It’s a ripe, juicy, easy-drinking red that’s all about pure fruit flavour. For a real taste of the Levant, this one’s a great ambassador - definitely worth a look if you fancy something utterly enjoyable from off the beaten track.

And since it’s our Wine of the Month, you’ll bag 100 bonus loyalty points (worth £1.00) for every bottle you grab. A good excuse, we reckon, to pick up a bottle or two and savour a bit of Lebanon’s history.
