Evaristo Vinho Regional Lisboa Tinto - Limited Parcel

A limited parcel of this bright, youthful red wine with vibrant juicy fruit flavours and subtle tannins is now available. Made by up-and-coming winemaker Diogo Sepulveda, Evaristo is a blend of indigenous Portuguese and international grapes sourced across the Lisbon wine region.

The grapes for Evaristo are sourced from carefully selected growers with vineyards across the Lisbon wine region. This gives Diogo a wide range of fruit with different characteristics to work with and maximize blending options. Coastal vineyards to the west of the region experience a cooler microclimate and produce grapes with great freshness and aromatics. Vineyards found further inland are more sheltered from these cooling influences and bring a riper aroma profile and body to the blend.

The 2021 vintage in Lisbon went remarkably smoothly, with dry and mild conditions during spring which provided good conditions for flowering and fruit set. Cooler than average temperatures during the summer days followed by cool nights allowed the grapes to undergo a perfectly paced slow ripening and retain their vibrant natural acidity.

This wine is made up of a blend of Touriga Nacional (50%), Cabernet Sauvignon (20%), Syrah (20%), and Alicante Bouschet (10%). The grapes were destemmed and crushed, and fermentation took place in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature for around eight days. Regular punch downs and pump overs were performed during fermentation. Following fermentation and malolactic fermentation, the wines were kept in stainless steel and no oak was used in the winemaking to retain the vibrant fruit flavors. The final blend was assembled, left to marry, and then bottled in the spring following the harvest.
