Our Cask Ales are Tapped!
FRESHLY TAPPED EVERY THURSDAY
We source all our ale from local, independent micro-breweries as 9-gallon firkins which are allowed to settle and condition for up to seven days. We then broach the casks and serve 'gravity ale' straight from the barrel into 2 pint, 4 pint, 5L Minikeg containers - there are no lines or pumps to taint the ale. All our ales are fully temperature controlled to maintain optimum quality.
Treat yourself to a freshly poured pint this weekend.
Fresh 'gravity ale' straight from the barrel. Order your 2 pints, 4 pints or 5L minikegs online. Poured on-site to preserve the freshness.
Your Cask Ales of Choice Are:
Harvey's Dark Mild
In a Nutshell:
Classic British Mild with a gentle, slight sweetness, hints of roasty coffee and a silky smooth finish.
The Lowdown:
By way of a change to all those intensely hoppy IPAs and tangy fruit sours, Dark Milds like this brings something different to the table - malt-led depth, subtlety and a smooth, easy-going texture and Harveys long history of brewing makes them masters of the style. Toasty and nutty, with a hint of chocolate lurking in the background. Not a hop bomb, by any stretch, but there's a gentle bitterness that keeps everything well balanced. It might be the beer your grandad used to drink in the public bar, but that's no reason to consign it to the past.
Style - Cask Ale ABV 3.0% - Session Strength
Amber, Red Ale & Bitter
England: London
ABV 4.1%
In a Nutshell:
A smooth red ale, rich with seven malts and brightened by Southern Hemisphere citrus-floral hops.
The Lowdown:
This red ale doesn't skimp on grain, with seven malts stacked up to build biscuit, caramel, gentle roast and a discreet nutty streak. Southern Hemisphere hops step in with citrus and floral lift - less fruit salad, more deft punctuation. The balance stays firmly in place: malt-led but never cloying, hop-fresh with a clean finish.
Middle Child Jaguar APA
West Coast Style Pale Ale
England: Surrey
ABV 4.5%
In a Nutshell:
An easy-going, bright and refreshing pale ale.
The Lowdown:
Middle Child's first cask ale is a smooth, sessionable American pale ale brewed with pale and Vienna malts, along with centennial, Columbus, and mosaic hops. It delivers a crisp bitterness with notes of citrus and a touch of dank character. A relaxed, flavourful pint.
Kernel Wet Hop Bitter
Amber, Red Ale & Bitter
England: London
ABV 4.4%
In a Nutshell:
Cask-conditioned English Bitter brewed with freshly picked Challenger and Prima Donna hops for gentle herbal freshness.
The Lowdown:
When Kernel say Wet Hop, most others would call it Green Hop - same idea, just different wording. It's their annual harvest brew, made with hops used within hours of picking, so what you taste is as close to the bine as beer gets. Prima Donna gives soft spice and a touch of orange, Challenger adds a clean green edge, and the malt keeps it light, dry and tidy. Subtle, balanced and true to Kernel's style - a fine, fresh take on the classic English Bitter.
Harvey's Sisters Table Beer
Pale Lager
England: East Sussex
ABV 3.4%
In a Nutshell:
Easy-going Sussex bitter with soft malt, floral hops and a crisp, refeshing finish.
The Lowdown:
Sisters is pretty much the definition of a table beer: low strength, balanced flavour, and made for the everyday. The floral English hops give flavours and aromas of hedgerows and meadows along with a light spiciness, while soft malt and Harvey's house yeast bring a touch of savoury depth. Smooth, easy-going, yet good and satisfying.
