Description
Pale, Blonde, Golden & Tripel
Belgium
ABV 5.8% - 33.0cl
In a Nutshell:
A golden Belgian pale with a gentle balance of fruity yeast and grassy hops, finishing crisp and refreshingly dry.
The Lowdown:
Born in the basement of a Brussels squat back in 2002, the Zinnebir label has the tagline 'The Brussels People's Ale' - Brasserie de la Senne are certainly putting their artisan credentials out there for all to see. They're a bit more established these days, but look fondly upon Zinnebir as their originaland signature beer. It's full of fruity and hoppy flavours, with dried apricots and orange marmalade standing out, along with a subtle malty note and well-judged bitterness. A well-worthy standard bearer for them.
The Brewery:
Brasserie de la Senne, founded in 2003 by Bernard Leboucq and Yvan De Baets, has had quite an influence on Brussels' indie beer scene. Well before the fashion for noticeably hoppy beers came along, they were crafting bitter, aromatic beers with a purpose. Sticking to traditional methods, they balance character with restraint - no showy gimmicks. And they dabble in barrel-aged and mixed-fermented brews too. Distinctive beers, distinctively Brussels.
