In a nutshell:
An excellent, top quality Chardonnay from one of the pioneers of the Margaret River wine region of Western Australia.
The Xanadu Estate's first vineyard was planted in 1977 and it has grown from strength to strength ever since. The grapes for this, top, Chardonnay come from the low yielding Lagan Vineyard, the oldest on the estate. Hand picked and after fermentation matured in French oak barrels, of which only 30% was new so the oak influence is more subtle and the fruit is allowed to shine. Fruity aromas of pears, red apples and nectarine with hints of almond and spice. Rich, concentrated and elegant on the palate with ripe citrus acidity and a creamy roundness to the mouthfeel. A long, crisp, lingering finish rounds this lovely Margaret River Chardonnay off.
When to drink:
Try pairing with richer fish and shellfish dishes, pork or veal with creamy sauces, or risotto.
