A rounded and aromatic, biodynamic Austrian white blend and traditional Viennese wine.
The lowdown:
Gemischter Satz, the German term for a field blend is also a traditional Viennese white wine made from multiple grape varieties grown in, what is now, the suburbs of the city. Fritz Wieninger's blend is made from fruit grown in his Bisamberg vineyard and contains Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc), Grauburgunder (Pinot Gris) and Chardonnay which is fermented together and aged for three months before bottling. It has a lovely aromatic nose with ripe pears and mango notes whilel on the palate it's elegant, subtle and full-bodied with white stone fruit flavours and smoky, exotic spicy notes. Very well balanced and a real pleasure to drink.
When to drink:
A very versatile wine that's just great to drink by itself. It'll also work well with white meat dishes, rich fish meals, and creamy pasta.

Fritz Wieninger is considered a pioneer of the 'New Vienna' wine movement, combining a sense of modernity and progress with the traditions of the region and of his family, who have been making wine for over 100 years. Weingut Wieninger is comprised of 50 hectares of biodynamically-grown vines on two main sites: Bisamberg (35 hectares) and the smaller Nussberg (15 hectares), separated by the Danube river. Drier and sunnier Bisamberg is characterised by light, sandy loess soil which makes for fresh wines with a vibrant acidity. In contrast, Nussberg has shell and limestone soils with a high clay content, giving wines greater richness and deeper fruit aromas.
