A small production, unfiltered, minimal intervention, rustic Chilean Malbec with a real fruit richness.
While Argentina is the apparent home of Malbec in South America, this competitor from across the Andes gives them a good run for their money. The vines used in this wine are at least a century old. The grapes are spontaneously fermented before ageing for a year in old French oak barrels. The result is rustic, ripe and supple wine full of dark and juicy blackberry and cherry flavours and held in place with lively acidity (perhaps even a touch of spritz) and round, well integrated tannins.
A beautiful example of South American Malbec with a well restrained oak influence. Due to the minimal intervention winemaking there will be some bottle variation.
