A well structured herby and spicy Saint Chinian with a fresh and supple fruitiness.
Named after Les Laouzes, the local name for the schist/slate soils, this is a blend of very old Carignan vines with Grenache and Syrah. Grown on brown shale soils. Once destemmed it is fermented in cement before ageing in a 8,000-litre wooden foudre for twelve months. Red fruits and liquorice show through along with the herbiness and spice which speaks very much of the hot, hilly north Languedoc countryside.
