As implied by their name the Small Beer Brew Co specialise solely in the production of beers with an ABV in the range 0.5 - 2.8%. Historically small beer was a staple of British daily life in a time when clean drinking water wasn't readily available. In the current age that problem is behind us, but interest in full flavoured, low alcohol beers is on the rise and is where the Small Beer Brew Co comes in.
Based in South Bermondsey in South East London, something of a craft beer hotspot, their range of beers is brewed with a great deal of care and attention. It's not easy to brew beer with lower ABVs that's still fully flavoured, but that is what they've set out to do.
They're also really keen on sustainability, particularly when it comes to water usage. A regular pint of beer typically uses around 10 pints of water in its production. At Small Beer by careful production processes and water recovery they've cut this down to just 1½ pints.
