Description
Italy: Friuli & Eastern Veneto
Fruity & Bright White
Bone Dry - Light-Medium Body - Unoaked
ABV 12.5% - 75.0cl
In a Nutshell:
A zingy Friuli Venezia Giulia field blend, loaded with ripe peach, pineapple and jasmine, heading to a racy, bone-dry finish.
The Lowdown:
An intriguing field blend from northeast Italy, that brings together different grape varieties grown side by side, harvested together, and fermented as one. It's not a winemaking approach you come across every day, and here it delivers a seamless expression of place rather than of any single variety. Made to capture purity and brightness, it also gains a gentle layer of complexity from time spent on its lees. The aromas brim with ripe peach, pineapple and apricot, lifted by jasmine, lime zest and a touch of white spice. Fresh and lively on the palate, it finishes crisp, bone dry and effortlessly balanced.
The Producer
The Russolo family has been making wine in Friuli for over a century, in the process establishing their name as a hallmark of quality. Today, Iginio and Rino carry this on making wines renowned for their concentrated varietal character, a result of meticulous vineyard practices that prioritise low yields and sustainable farming. With organic fertilizers and minimal sulphur use, they nurture their vines, a mix of indigenous Friulian and international varieties, on the well-draining, stony soils around Pordenone.
When to Drink:
Excellent with grilled prawns, lemon sole, or spring vegetable risotto things that meet the freshness on equal terms.
