A well structured and refined Côtes de Nuits Burgundy.
The Chauvenet family can trace their winemaking origins on the Côte de Nuits back to 1680, and remain in famliy hands with Christophe Drag, son-in law of the current owner Jean Chauvenet currently in charge. The Les Lavieres vineyard in Nuits-Saint-Georges is located at the base of the hill and matured in oak for around 18 months. Richly textured on the palate with black and red fruits, spice, pepper. There's a fine minerality and touches of vanilla with big silky tannins which make this an altogether quite handsome red Burgundy.
It'll be in peak condition until the mid 2020's and is made to go with rich poultry or feathered game dishes.
