Description
In a nutshell:
A serious Cru Beaujolais that isn't merely delicious, it delivers a sense of place - imagine wild strawberries, a twist of spice, and an underlying whisper of the earth itself.
The lowdown:
Call it Gamay with a glint in its eye. This is Beaujolais for those who sometimes find others a touch unsubtle. A whiff reveals wild strawberries and candied cherries, hinting at something more complex lurking beneath. And lurk it does - a silky smooth mouthful with whispers of earth and minerals, all thanks to 60-year-old vines clinging to the granite and schist slopes of an extinct volcano. Unfined, unfiltered and entirely natural, this is Gamay that whispers secrets rather than shouts them from the rooftops. Intriguing? Absolutely.
The Producer:
Jean and Agnès Foillard took the reins of their domaine in 1980, and their Gamays quickly gained a devoted following. Inspired by the traditionalist Jules Chauvet, they, along with three local colleagues, championed a return to classic methods. Think old vines, meticulous handwork, and minimal intervention. With prime plots in Morgon's famed 'Côtes du Py' and ancient vines, their wines sing with purity and freshness. A taste of Beaujolais, done right.
When to drink:
A red full of sunshine and bright fruit - think grilled tuna steak, a simple roast chicken, or simply something to savour on its own.
Suitable for Vegans, Organic
