In a nutshell:
A magnificently rich, but still light and complex Tokaji Aszú from a small, quality focussed winery.
Tokaji, one of the world's famous dessert wines, come from north eastern Hungary. It generally comes at different levels of sweetness according the amount of residual sugar in the finished wine with Aszú being one of the most swee. This one has a hefty 178 grams per litre. But far from being cloying it's incredibly rich and light, very complex and wonderfully easy to drink. It's full of creamy raspberry jam, melting white chocolate and juicy peach with notes of smoky chestnut - it's all there and more. There's a great balance of sweetness and acidity and long lingering finish.
When to drink:
A decadent, but supremely enjoyable dessert wine, perfect with creamy fruit tarts.
