In a nutshell:
From Lebanon's Chateau Musar this is sometimes thought of as their 'second wine' in the Bordeaux manner, but it's certainly much more than that.
It's a blend of Cinsault, Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon from low yielding, mature bush vines from a single vineyard near the Bekaa Valley village of Aana. It has a beautiful, deep, burgundy colour, with aromas of smoky, leathery tobacco. The palate is a complex patchwork of currants, dates, damsons, mulberries and Christmas spices. The finish has smooth tannins, ripe, red fruits with just a hint of subtle oak.
When to drink:
Unfiltered and unfined it's suitable for vegans is a great choice to partner with tuna steaks or rich Mediterranean dishes.
