An iconic, rich and elegantly textured South Australian Shiraz.
The Henschke estate produce some of Australia's most sought after wines and the Mount Edelstone Shiraz is among their top cuvees. The Mount Edelstone vineyard in the Eden Valley was planted back in 1912 which makes the vines 102 years old and under viticulturist Prue Henschke the cultivation is now done on biodynamic principles. The 2014 vintage was quite low yielding, but the fruit picked was of high quality. This has the characteristic Mount Edelstone peppery aromas and hint of sage whilst on the palate the rich plum and blackberry fuit flavours combine with a touch of florality and savoury spiciness. The tannic structure is gloriously fine and silky and help it sign off with a hugely lengthy finish.
Still in its youth this is an excellent vintage which will be great drinking right up to around 2040.
