DESCRIPTION
In a nutshell:
An intense and unfortified dry Palomino from near Jerez in southern Andalucia aged under flor in sherry-type casks.
The lowdown:
Made by the exciting and highly regarded Equipo Navazos - a group of like minded friends doing great things with classic sherry grape varietals down in Andalucia. This is the fourth vintage of their Florpower dry white made with Palomino Fino grapes from the old Pago Miraflores La Baja vineyard. Fermented "old style" in traditional 600 litre sherry oak casks where it is later aged for 8 months under flor yeasts. Aged for another 10 months or so under flor again in stainless steel it is then bottled relatively earlier leading to a fresher and more vibrant style than previous releases. This is an intense wine with pungent aromatics of apple, almond, baked bread and citrus. A bold, savoury, saline palate with floral hints and chalky notes.
When to drink:
Drink it as you might a Manzanilla sherry. It's also very good with white meats, like poultry, and meaty fish dishes.

PRODUCER
Equipo Navazos

Equipo Navazos is a group of friends who have united over a shared passion for the treasures of Jerez, Sanlúcar, El Puerto and Montilla. One of the main driving forces behind things has been the much respected sherry aficionado Jesús Barquín.
They work closely with local producers to identify high quality butts of sherry with finesse and complexity which they then bottle and offer in very limited amounts.
As well as producing sherry, more recently they've branched out and collaborated with other winemakers including Dirk Niepoort and Sergi Colet to develop some intriguing and characterful still wines from Jerez and sparkling wines from further north in Penèdes.
