Description
In a nutshell:
An elegant and fruit driven Spanish red made by a boutique winery from grapes grown in Jumilla, Murcia
The lowdown:
Ex-Pat Scot Pamela Geddes runs her own small operation in Catalonia called Lobban Wines and she is the one who makes this delicious red. While her winery is not far from Barcelona the grapes for this come from vineyards in the arid south eastern province of Murcia which is well suited to growing the Monastrell grape which makes up 80% of this blend - the remaining 20% being Syrah. Once at her winery the grapes ate crushed and macerated before fermentation before ageing for 18 months in large French oak vats. The resulting wine has a vibrant garnet colour with a fruit driven nose of blackberries and blackcurrants and spicy notes and hints of smoky toasty oak. The palate is rich and round and is complemented by its ripe tannins. It's a very fruit driven wine with great length and drinkability.
When to drink:
With its depth of fruit it's good to enjoy things like with pasta, red meats and game.
Suitable for Vegans
