In a nutshell: Fresh and full of bright fruits, an excellent Spanish example of wild Garnacha.
The lowdown: From the beautiful and rugged eastern Navarra near the border with Aragon lies the region of Baja Montana and the isolated villages of Leaché and Aibar from which the Garnacha grapes are sourced for this delicious wine. Vineyards of bush and trellised vines are carefully graded before different plots are handpicked and go through a whole bunch fermentation with wild yeasts. 50% is then aged in old oak barrels for one year to preserve the energy and freshness. Bright red fruits and hints of spice and wild dry earthy notes on the nose. The palate is rounded and soft but with an energy, full of bright red fruits and with balanced, fresh acidity cutting through. A really well made, excellent value, moreish example of Spanish Garnacha.
When to drink: A very versatile and food friendly wine. Try with poultry or pork, game, or mildly spicy North African dishes.
