A fresh and elegant Garnacha from one of the oldest winemaking families in Spain.
The lowdown:
Chivite have been making wine for over 300 hundred years and their Legardeta estate south-west of Pamplona produces some stunning wines. Set in rolling hills surrounded by natural woodland and scrub and with it's own unique microclimate the produced have both ripeness and wonderfully balanced, fresh acidity. This Legardeta Garnacha is a true balance of those two virtues of ripeness and freshness. Hand harvested the grapes then undergo a gentle maceration and fermentation prior to spending 10 months in French oak barrels. Loads of deep, fruity aromas lead onto medium-bodied, elegant palate with raspberry and strawberry notes, touches of spice, fine tannins and a long finish.
When to drink:
A great pairing to roast pork or chicken. Try also with game dishes like pigeon, mushroom risotto, and would be a good choice to have with mixed cheese and charcuterie boards.
