Chateau Unang La Source, Ventoux Rouge 2016

Château Unang, which sits above the Nesque river overlooking the Vaucluse plateau, has been in the hands of Scottish couple James and Joanna King since 2003. Since they've taken over a great deal of renovating and replanting has taken place which has made this once neglected estate a real treasure. They have just 15 hectares of vines which sit on limestone soils at an altitude of between 200 and 300 metres in superbly sheltered sites. Their white grapes site at the lower levels and get more protection from the summer sun giving wines with good levels of minerality, whilst the red grapes sit higher up and have a south-easterly aspect. They've been certified organic since 2013. James King is the winemaker who exercises great care and attention to all their cuvées, all of which represent excellent value for the modest prices they charge.
