A fresh, supple and organic blend of Syrah and Grenache from the slopes of Mont Ventoux in the Rhone valley.
The lowdown:
Made by ex-pat James King this is a great alternative to Côtes du Rhone badged wines. The syrah gives it a marked darkness of colour. Violets, cherries, hints of tobacco aromas lead onto a palate of brambles, black pepper and herbs. A year in oak barrels adds texture and softness. Altogether this is a well made wine and largely achieves the elegance and depth of flavour which they set out to reach.
When to drink:
Classically pairs well with roast lamb dishes, though the quality, softness and freshness of this wine means it is highly versatile.

James and Joanna King, of Scottish descent, have been the custodians since 2003 of this isolated, self contained domaine in the shadow of Mount Ventoux.
When they took over the vineyards were in varying states of health but theyve since been renovated or replanted and will extend to eighteen hectares. All harvesting is done by hand and the vineyard is now also certified organic.
All wines from the domaine are classified AOP Côtes du Ventoux.
