DESCRIPTION
A lovely clean and rounded southern Rhone white.
The lowdown:
The vineyards in the Costières de Nîmes area close to the Mediterranean from where this wine comes benefit from extensive sunshine and the cooling maritme effect of being near the sea. This really fruity and tasty wine is made with 60% Roussane giving some depth and complexity while the 20% Grenache Blanc adds richness and a rounded mouthfeel.
When to drink:
It's a highly versatile wine and a great intro into whites of this region. A lovely aperitif but also matches well with asparagus grilled fish and chicken in a creamy sauce.
Suitable for Vegans
PRODUCER
Chateau L'Ermitage

Vines have been grown around Château l'Ermitage in Saint-Gilles just outside the Camargue for several centuries with records of l'Ermitage of Costieres producing wine for pilgrims en route to Santiago de Compostella as far back as the twelfth century.
Currently the vineyards extend to 80 hectares on southern Rhône sandstone soils. Being south facing, overlooking the Camargue, in summer Mediterranean sea breezes help keep temperatures in check preserving the freshness and aromatics of the grapes.
Jérôme Castillon, is from the current generation running the estate and his efforts have very much helped in raising the reputation of wines from the Costieres de Nimes and surroundings to where they are today.
