In a nutshell:
A rich, spicy and fruit red from the Costieres de Nimes in the southern Rhône, near the ancient city of Nimes.
The vineyards in this part of the country near the mouth of the Rhône are comprised of galets roulés gris, large pebbles which are typical of this part of the world. Made with 45% Mourvedre, 45% Syrah and a little Grenache which is aged for 12 months on large French oak barrels before release. It has a real depth and earthy, spicy complexity making for a quite savoury and serious wine. At the same time there's a bright freshness running through it and with the lovely smooth texture leaves a clean feel to the palate on the finish.
When to drink:
The, bold spicy edge to this makes it great with game, steak and ripe cheeses.
