In a nutshell:
An impressive and appealing 3ème Cru Classé left bank Claret.
Margaux is home to some of the most prestigious of Bordeaux châteaux and Cantenac Brown is certainly pretty high up among them. This, their Grand Vin, in 2015, was made from 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot which spent 16 months in oak barrels following fermentation. It's quite a classic style of Margaux with pronounced blackberry and cassis aromas and some toasty oak underneath. On the palate red fruit flavours are to the fore and display a really good freshness. The pleasing tannins contribute to a sublime structure while it all retains an excellent level of freshness right to the lengthy finish.
When to drink:
Sweet and seductive this is a good wine for early drinking but will also keep well into the 2030s.
