A delicate and refined 1er Grand Cru Classé Saint-Émilion from one of the top Right Bank estates.
Château Canon has the distinction of being only one of 18 premier grand cru classé Saint Emilion estates. And being owned by the Chanel Group the quality their wines fully live up to this reputation. 2013 wasn't the best of vintages so production was kept low with only the best fruit being allowed into this their Grand Vin which meant that standards of other years have been maintained. It has quite a high percentage of Cabernet Franc at 35% with the remainder being Merlot. On the nose are hints of cedar, cocoa powder and cherries, while, on the palate there's a good density of fleshy ripe red fruits with a subtle sweet orange peel edge.
In all, it's very well balanced and will make excellent drinking between now and the mid 2020s.
