In a nutshell: A gloriously rich and warming Sloe Gin distilled in Herefordshire.
The lowdown: Chase's Oak Aged Sloe Gin uses wild hedgerow sloe berries from Herefordshire and the ultimate forgotten fruit, mulberries which are gently macerated in Chase GB Gin and then oak aged in Rhône Valley red wine casks. It has sweet notes of ripe blackcurrants, redcurrants, stone fruit and rich botanical complexity on the nose followed by rich cassis and plummy stone fruit flavours. The long finish rounds off with subtle oaky undertones.
Sweet and fresh, it's well balanced with a welcome touch of tartness.
The Chase story started in Potato farming in Herefordshire and Tyrrells crisps was the original enterprise where Will Chase had his success. After the sale of this business he landed on the notion of using his potatoes for distilling into vodka and gin as his next venture.
Neatly surfing the rise in popularity of craft and artisan spirits they've built a diverse range of premium spirits and are now one of the leading producers of home grown spirits.
Further diversification has led to the establishment of Maison Williams Chase in the south of France from where they produce a range of wines including a classic Provence rosé.
