A big Cabernet Sauvignon dominated South African Bordeaux blend.
The truly picturesque Franschhoek winery of Chamonix continue to produce some stella wines and this big Cabernet Sauvignon dominated Bordeaux blend definitely sits as one of their best. The grapes are bunch selected in the vineyard and then individually sorted by hand on tables so only the best, ripest fruit makes it into the bottle - after being matured for 18 months in oak barrels.
A deep mulberry colour in the glass with intense aromas of vanilla, sweet ripe cherries, blackberries, cinnamon and sweet spice. Well-structured on the palate with a full, round and smooth body, grippy tannins and a long length.
Drinking beautifully now, though it will age very well over the next few years.
