DESCRIPTION
A lovely, ripe, rich and rounded wine that's a great advertisment for white Burgundy.
The lowdown:
The well known Burgundy house of Louis Jadot make many different cuvées from top end to more modest appellations; all of them being made with the utmost care and attention. This chardonnay is made mainly with grapes from the Cote d'Or together with some Mâconnais fruit and is a wine that's full of ripe fruit character, lovely weight and an elegant freshness. Judicious use of oak during maturation gives a slight vanilla touch making it very well balanced and highly-drinkable.
When to drink:
Great on its own and when pairing with food roast pork and crispy crackling come to mind.
PRODUCER
Maison Louis Jadot

One of the major negociant houses in Burgundy founded in 1859 by the eponymous Louis Jadot and based in Beaune where their striking, purpose built winery can be found..
While their négociant operations form a major part of what they do they also have significant vineyard holdings of their own stretching through the Cote d'Or to the Maconnais and Beaujolais regions. They also manage additional vineyards in the Côte Chalonnaise.
In recent years their success has in no small part been due to the management of André Gagey and winemaker Jacques Lardière. The wines made from both from bought in and their own grapes have a solid reputation. Their Côte de Beaune reds and whites in particular are among their stand out wines. Following the retirement of Jacques Lardière in 2013 his assistant Frédéric Barnier has taken over the reins and continues to build on the foundations laid by his predecessor.
